We are looking for a Test Engineer who has a genuine passion for building the next great automation to energy density and its life cycle.  A desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial company is a must. You will have the opportunity to learn all aspects of battery testing and design for lithium-ion cells, modules, and packs and contribute to developing the next-generation battery technology and products. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your knowledge and experience to solutions that help solve global energy and environmental challenges. You will be joining a team with extensive experience in development of lithium ion cell and pack technology, manufacturing, and testing.
 
Principal Responsibilities:
• Setup of cell, module, and pack testing including programming of battery cycler and thermal chamber protocols and data collection protocols
• Preparation of module and pack samples to be tested including hands-on generating mechanical parts in metal shop, mechanical assembly and modifications, instrumentation as well as preparation of special test provisions/areas
• Daily monitoring of the laboratory and progress of tests 
• Development of new test protocols including special fixtures and programming to automate procedures and data collection
• Test laboratory maintenance including calibration certifications, equipment service contracts, and general maintenance items, as well as low level equipment sourcing and purchasing
• Preparation of progress reports and briefings, including data analysis as needed.
 
Key Competencies:
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and trouble-shooting skills
• Management of critical parallel test programs, associated data collection, and secure data storage
• Programming with MATLAB/LabView for control of experiments and data analysis preferred but not required
• Application of statistics to experimental design and data analysis preferred but not required
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis

Job Requirements

 
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Associate’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 1 year testing experience


Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
 
  • Experience working in metal shop using metal shear, metal brake, metal band saw, drill press
  • Experience in industrial/mechanical environment
  • Ability to analyze data and situation and come up with creative solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Programming with MATLAB/LabView for control of experiments and data analysis preferred.
  • Application of statistics to experimental design and data analysis preferred
