Acara Solutions is helping our Los Angeles space / defense client (specializing in integrated sensor, communication and electronic warfare systems) find a Software Engineering Section Manager to join their organization as a salaried direct employee.
An active Secret clearance is required.
The employee will perform functional management tasks and be actively engaged in the technical and/or programmatic aspects of Special Access Programs. Section managers are responsible for providing engineering leadership to ensure that cost, schedule and technical performance comply with program needs and Company processes. Engineering leadership tasks include but not are not limited to such activities as ensuring adequate resources (personnel and assets) are dedicated to programs, providing technical guidance, developing career paths, facilitating alignment with engineering command media, leading productivity improvement and risk mitigation initiatives, perform other functional duties in support of the normal operations and providing cost estimates for proposal activities including basis of estimates.
Job Requirements

Required Skills / Qualifications:
Current secret or higher clearance
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other STEM field
Min 5 years of C/C++ embedded software development experience
Min 10 years of software development experience (including significant entire software lifecycle)
Min 2 years of experience using and reporting EVMS
Min 3 years of experience leading a team of engineers
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Earned Value certified
  • Previous functional management experience
  • Experience working on Tactical Radar programs
