Electron Beam Welder II - 2nd shift

Acara Solutions has an opening for 2 Electron Beam Welders in the El Cajon area for an aerospace company.

Under minimal supervision, performs EB welding of production parts to meet customer and company requirements.
  1. Verifies paperwork, such as: Assures the traveler S/N and the part S/N match and operation REV letter on the traveler and operation sheets match.
  1. Sets up EB weld machine, including selecting the appropriate fixture, securing the parts to the fixture and identifying the proper program for each specific job. 
  1. Identifies and follows weld joint, adjusting current (amps, volts, travel speed, and the beam) to assure weld integrity within customer allowance. 
  1. Develops EB weld parameters, writes setups, and certifies the schedule to the part by running test plates. 
  1. Maintains EB weld machine (checks oil levels and daily log of pumpdown times).  Performs minor repairs on machine, as required. 
  1. Identifies and resolves welding problems. 
  1. Reviews, evaluates, and innovates new concepts towards better quality and efficiency. 
  1. Develops weld schedule for new projects and exotic materials. 
  1. Acts as liaison for welding rework in conjunction with welding engineering and weld fixture design. 
  1. Follows up on metallurgical evaluation, such as polished mounts, micro-hardness tests, photomicrographs and grain micro-structure evaluation. 
  1. Supports EB fusion weld functions, as required. 
  1. Completes Operator Acceptance Program (OAP) certification, as required.
Job Requirements

Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years EB and Tig weld experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Must be proficient at setup and operation of all EB weld machines, as applicable, and successfully pass all weld certification tests and eye examinations required. 
  • Use Sciaky weld machines
  • Knowledge of programming is a plus. 
  • Must be able to read and understand written planning and follow verbal instructions.
