Acara Solutions has an immediate opening for a Senior Director of Business Development for our growing client in Mahwah, NJ!
Job Description:
This position’s major goal is to support Business Development activities such as in-licensing and out-licensing on US generics formulation and specialties front. By understanding the client's internal competencies, this position strives to supplement internal product development activities with external alliances to support long term growth of US generics business. In this role, the individual is expected to generate, negotiate and contract with potential partners across the US and internationally. This position also provides critical commercial inputs to portfolio development and alternate source development activities.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate potential in-licensing opportunities for generic business including 505 B (2) opportunities from commercial point of view
  • Act as the business development/transaction interface between internal team members and potential partner companies
  • Provide commercial and financial insights in evaluation stages of the transaction such as Portfolio/Asset valuation for in-licensing as well as acquisition opportunities including AG
  • Collaborate with Sales & Marketing, IP, Regulatory and Supply Chain functions and develop valuation models against various opportunities
  • Manage relationships with business partners throughout development and commercialization of products
  • Work with Senior Management to prepare and propose deal terms via LOI & Term Sheet and final agreement in conjunction with the Legal Department
  • Establish processes to track and measure compliance of business alliances in post agreement scenario
  • Work with portfolio selection team to identify ad recommend new products, in line with core competence of the organization, for internal development. Constantly monitor market landscape to identify low hurdle opportunities i.e. products with Bio-Waiver & no clinical requirement.
  • Structure and organize portfolio review with Senior Management at an appropriate frequency with Senior Management
  • Explore and evaluate other long term business opportunities in US market such as Government Business-product selection, CMO development and project execution
  • Identifying new business segments outside of current focus and develop business plans where appropriate to support new initiatives
  • Explore and evaluate other long term business opportunities in US market such as Government Business-product selection, CMO development and project execution
  • Continuously evaluate current commercial portfolio from cost and risk management perspective, identify products for alternate source development
  • Prioritize products for alternate site and alternate source development
  • Constantly monitor market landscape and change priorities if needed
 
Job Requirements

 
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering field
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Pharmaceutical industry with at least 3 years in Business Development role
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Able to effectively structure sales forecasts, P&L’s, risk analyses and company valuations; strong understanding of discounted cash flow, net present value (NPV), internal rates of return (IRR) and other risk analysis techniques
  • Able to integrate scientific knowledge into the business model
  • Working knowledge of pharma/biotech industry issues, trends and their business impact
  • Knowledge of the licensing/business development process and landscape
  • Understanding of the drug development process
  • Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to review and edit contract and give direction to Legal in writing contracts
  • Strong industry network and contacts
  • Able to work collaboratively in teams and communicate effectively with Senior Management
  • Ability to take leadership role on elements of major deals and provide full support to Senior Management on all aspects of major deals
  • Ability to develop deal structures and conduct and conclude negotiations
  • Lead multiple projects efficiently and with a high degree of independence
  • Consistently deliver on commitments in a timely manner
