Acara Solutions is hiring a Human Resources assistant for an independent designer, manufacturer, and service provider of control solutions for the aerospace and industrial markets.  Location is in Santa Clarita, CA.  (91350)

This is a 6 month contract position (coverage for maternity leave).

Description
 
Position Purpose:
The Human Resources Assistant provides specialized administrative support to the HR Department. This position is the first point of contact for the general membership.
 
Essential Functions:
  • Provides administrative support to the HR Consultant, Site Leader or HR Manager
  • Provides administrative support for all facets of the recruiting and staffing process
  • Maintains member records in HRIS system including new hires & terminations
  • Acts as a liaison with Payroll, initiating and processing change of status forms. May handle payroll processes in some non-domestic locations.
  • Provides support and information to the general membership regarding HR resources, policies and procedures
  • Works to improve HR processes
  • Participates in HR project work
  • Performs employment verifications and background checks.
  • Conducts New Member Orientation
Other Functions:
  • In smaller plants, the HR Assistant may also be responsible for: 
    • Maintaining Benefits records in HRIS system
    • Assisting with the administration of Disability and Worker's Compensation cases
    • Administering the employee badge system
    • Acting as a backup for the switchboard operator
  • Maintains calendars and schedules for HR Generalist and HR Manager
 
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 
  • Ability to appropriately manage confidential information 
  • Ability to plan and organize; strong attention to detail 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, using good judgment, tact and discretion 
  • Solid knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Ability to learn and apply database management and/or HRIS user environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment 
  • Ability to multi-task effectively, while ensuring quality results and timeliness 
  • Good customer service skills 
  • Basic understanding of HR function 
  • Strong problem-solving skills
 
Job Requirements

 
Education or Formal Training: 
  • High School Diploma required; Associates Degree or equivalent work experience preferred. 
Experience Required: 
  • 2 years experience in an Administrative Assistant role required. 
Experience may be substituted with a four-year degree and a demonstrated interest in HR
