Acara Solutions is looking for Designer I for our Client located in Dallas, TX.
  • Client - Mechanical designer candidate would become a key member of an integrated product team tasked to develop sensors and related military products.  
  • Supports the mechanical engineering design department by creating routine mechanical/electrical/electronic designs for new product parts, subassemblies, assemblies, systems configurations, tooling, and test equipment using CAD systems; compiling Bills of Materials; assisting in the assembly of prototypes; supporting release and processing change requests in configuration management system. 
  • Drawing multiple views; depicting relationship of component and parts; identifying dimensions, angles, curvatures, tolerances, and materials; preparing bills of material and specifications; creating documentation and processing Engineering Change Orders; ensuring adherence to designated quality and cost parameters; using Creo Parametric CAD. 
  • Ensures quality of drawings and functionality of equipment by assisting in the building/acquiring of prototypes; testing and analyzing results; making various calculations, such as strength of materials, weights, simple forces, and stresses, frequently using charts and tables; analyzing the effect of proposed changes for proper fit and interference problems; recommending possible solutions or alternate construction; modifying drawings; conferring with engineers to resolve issues; adhering to Company policies and procedures 
  • Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner 
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization 
  • Other duties as assigned 
Job Requirements

Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • AS degree in Mechanical-Electrical Drafting Technology.
  • Minimum of 2 years" experience in knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within mechanical design and/or engineering.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Detail oriented 
  • Microsoft Office 
  • Electronics packaging design
  • Optical packaging design 
  • Proficiency in PTC Creo Parametric 3 or higher & PDMLink  
  • Familiarity with ASME Y14.100 & Y14.5M 
  • Additive manufacturing experience 
Additional Information:
  • Upon offer of employment, the individual will be subject to a background check and a drug screen.
  • Ability to lift 10 lbs (less than 5% per week)  
  • Travel up to 5% of year
