Acara Solutions is helping our national aerospace client in Bothell, WA find a Failure Analysis Supervisor / Electrical Engineer to join their organization as a direct salaried employee. This position may allow split work onsite and remote during the week.

The Engineer/Supervisor will lead a team of technicians in the Modular Power Solution group analyzing DC/DC converters to determine root cause of their failures. The engineer will have a strong understanding of power electronics. This is a hands-on engineering position that also supervises 2-3 technicians. The engineer will need to be able to do 'autopsies' on the products and assess what happened to them, along with the effect that has on their intended operation. Using credibly, convincingly report that information to relatively sophisticated and technically savvy customers.

  • Perform root cause analysis on power conversion products: DC/DC converters using effective root cause tools (cause effect, 5W"s, FEMA, Pareto)
  • Identify and drive corrective and preventive actions to manufacturing, design or supplier process.
  • Correspond directly with customers to complete root cause failure analysis
  • Create and deliver concise technical summary reports to customers
  • Responsible for management of multiple parallel failure investigations with accountability for accuracy, planning, scheduling, cost estimating and control, risk-assessment, and direct customer communication.  The failure analysis results must be sufficient to determine the scope and nature of corrective actions if needed.
  • Design of experiments to evaluate failure modes and mechanisms.
  • Ability to coordinate with internal cross functional subject-matter experts and outside consultants as needed.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees, customers and, suppliers.
  • Responsible for managing and coordinating continuous improvement activities in their area and for recognizing and rewarding results of lab technicians/staff.
 
Job Requirements

 
Required Skills / Qualifications:
BSEE or related engineering discipline
Min 3 years of electronics industry experience with hardware product design and manufacturing along with significant DC-DC design and analog engineering experience
Min 1 year of supervisory or team lead experience (may consider a strong DC/DC candidate without that experience).
Min 1 year of experience performing root cause analysis on power conversion products: DC/DC converters using effective root cause tools (cause effect, 5W"s, FEMA, Fault Tree).

ITAR aerospace facility - U.S. Persons required

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
MSEE or similar
Experience with Mil-Spec, FAA and/or Space qualified product
