Acara Solutions is looking for Manufacturing Layup Technician for our client located in Rockledge, Florida
Pay Rate: $15.00
 
Position Description: The manufacturing technician will fabricate and assemble composite parts using resins, fiberglass, carbon fabrics, structural adhesives, rivets, and threaded and blind fasteners; or perform operations such as trimming, drilling, sanding, and painting of composites; or set and operate resin transfer molding machines and ovens in the processing area, The manufacturing technician performs all duties in compliance with MSP ME-001 to establish controls and responsibilities relative to maintaining a suitable environment for the fabrication of composite structures.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
1) All technicians follow and accurately complete work orders for assemblies.
a) Layup Manufacturing Technicians are trained on specific program parts using the SWO to develop their competencies:
i) Cuts fiberglass or carbon material to size, following templates or blueprints, using scissors, or knife
ii) Marks identifying information on material and assembles material in kits for subsequent laminating
iii) Applies layers of dry or impregnated cloth onto mold or fixture in pre-determined ply sequence and press cloth to fit contours of mold, smooth surface, and remove air pockets and excess resin using squeegee, scraper, spatula, and/or other tools
iv) Fits and laps ends of cloth accurately using scissors or knife. Encases molded laminate in release materials, bagging material and bleeder coth and attaches vacuum bagging apparatus such as thermocouples, probes and vacuum connections to mold and exhausts air from vacuum bag to seal laminate for curing
v) Tests seal on vacuum bagging apparatus using leak detector
vi) Trims, drills, grind, sands, and finishes cured parts to specifications using templates, fixtures, hand tools, and/or power tools. Pre-fits and assembles cured parts into assemblies or subassemblies using jigs, fixtures, power tools, and/or fastener
2) Assure that completed work complies with FAA regulations, customer requirements and/or company specifications
3) Keep scrap materials at minimum levels
4) Participate in Lean Manufacturing initiatives with specific concentration on 5S
5) Commits to quality objectives and certifications
6) Follow all OSHA and company safety and environmental regulations
7) Other duties as assigned
 
Job Requirements

 
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma
  • 3 months of experience in a manufacturing position
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Ability to be highly organized, detail oriented and able to respond to change quickly
  • Basic Ms Office skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Must frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift/and move up to 50 pounds
  • Safety related: Must be able to become certified to wear a respirator
