Acara Solutions has an exciting direct hire opportunity for a Field Service Hydraulics Engineer / Actuation Specialist with our engineering client in Houston, TX.
Salary is $105-115k DOE and requires up to 60% travel with per diem.

This position will be responsible for the Aftermarket support on our customers' Actuation Systems. In this role, you will: 
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting to customers, either via phone or direct visits. 
  • Support the Field Service Manager and Inside Sales team on the Turnaround actuation repairs planning, including: 
    1. Spare Parts and Bill of Material preparation        
    2. Staffing 
    3. Scope of Work definition
  • Support the AFM Manager with the preparation of long-term strategies, including: 
o Preparing/maintaining a database of customers' actuation equipment 
o Identifying update/repair/replace strategies 
  • Travel as required to refinery locations to support Turnaround activities for the Field Service group. 
  • Supervise Turnaround jobs from the preparation phase through execution and post Turnaround phase, including: 
    1. Execution at the customer's site 
    2. Communications with the customer and the shop during the execution of Turnaround 
    3. Preparation of daily and final reports 
    4. Post Turnaround 'Lessons learned' Meetings 
    5. Preparation of the Turnaround
    6. Staffing
  • Commission and start-up new or revised Actuation installations. 
  • Ensure resolution of field problems to achieve customer satisfaction. 
  • Support the Engineering department in Actuation specific projects, through calculations, design, and preparation of Bill of Materials. 
  • Provide training on Actuation to the Field Service team, Engineering, Sales team, and Shop. 
  • Do consultancy assistance in Aftermarket or Actuation sales activities, including: 
o Supporting the sales team in identifying selling strategies. 
o Visiting customers. 
o Attending meeting and conference calls to aid the Aftermarket and Actuation Sales efforts. 
Job Requirements

Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Ability to travel up to 60% 
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Hydraulic/Instrumentation and Electrical Engineering or related field 
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience of electro-hydraulic system design, to include HPU design, integrated manifold design and interfacing electrical/electronics to hydraulics 
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical/mechanical leadership role within engineering or field service 

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Effectively communicate with both internal and external customers  
  • Ability to perform repair and maintenance tasks (i.e. assembly & test) on actuating systems while in the field as required 
  • Excellent computer skills - Word, Excel and Outlook essential 
  • Clean driving record and the ability to pass background and receive TWIC a must
