Required Skills / Qualifications:
- JD (Juris Doctorate)
- Minimum of 5 years' experience including drafting, reviewing and negotiating procurement / business contracts, procurement negotiations (Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences industries [or other regulated industries])
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in managing cross-functional and global teams of contracting and procurement professionals and in establishing performance expectations
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPM, CPIM)
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in Pharmaceutical Procurement
- Membership in Professional Associations (e.g., ISM)
- Familiarity with healthcare laws, rules, and regulations including the Federal Anti-Kickback Statute, the Affordable Care Act, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and other data privacy laws
- Procurement Functional Leadership
- Global Process Owners
- Sourcing Excellence Functional Leads / Teams
- Legal Teams
- IT
- The individual in this role must be able to handle a heavy workload with sometimes short and expedited deadlines.
- This is not a passive role, but one requiring accountability and management.
- The successful candidate must actively work and manage the entire contract from start to finish with a hands on approach.
- The individual in this role will need to be able to propel, steer and guide a contract and must have excellent people skills and must work quickly, diligently, and efficiently with internal business clients, SE, Subject Matter Experts, and other appropriate stakeholders to resolve negotiation issues in a timely manner and push a deal through to execution.
- A strong relationship of mutual trust and accountability must be built between this individual and the legal department.
- Internal stakeholder management, data/information management, category management, process redesign and continuous improvement expertise, project management and performance measurement skills
- Procurement process knowledge, contract management, financial analysis, market analysis, supplier analysis, supplier diversity, supplier management, technology utilization, strategic planning and integrated supply chain experience
- Understanding of legal terms vs. business terms
- Recognizing, identifying and being able to explain business and legal risks and their implications.
- Other Relevant Experience: internal stakeholder management, data/information management, process redesign and continuous improvement expertise, project management and performance measurement skills.
- Data Privacy and Health Data Privacy understanding
- Understand pharmaceutical Product Development ('PD') business requirements and translate them into effectively leading GPS Product Development projects including Laboratory Services Agreements, Product Development Services Agreements, Master Services Agreements, and Statements of Work
- Preference for candidates having in depth experience in pharmaceutical product creation including early stage asset identification, development, and research and development
- Critical understanding of key intellectual property terms including licenses, patents, ownership of IP, and confidential information in order to successfully negotiate complex agreements that help develop lifesaving medicines for patients
