Acara Solutions in Lancaster/Akron, NY is seeking a Direct Hire - Industrial Machinist / Maintenance. Our client is a U.S. based Industrial manufacturer of turret punch press equipment and a leader in laser, punching and bending technology. JOB DESCRIPTION: 
Plan lay out and perform all required operations to move, maintain, repair, and install, plumbing and heating equipment, plant machinery, machine tools, including disconnecting and reconnecting power supplies. 
Maintain and repair buildings and grounds, service lines and systems. Operate and maintain heating and circulating systems. Perform electrical repair function on motors, conductors, starters, and lighting equipment, ensuring applicable safety procedures and standards are met. Use all standard measuring and testing equipment to trace circuits. Work from drawings, sketches, schematics, specifications, manuals, instructions to plan work. Tear down machines and equipment, determine extent of trouble, repair damaged mechanisms, replace worn or defective parts, reassemble and prove out. Set up and operate manual machines tools as well as standard attachments which may e required to perform machining operations on replacement parts. Select materials required for specific requirements. Perform a wide variety of hand and bench operations to fit and finish bearings, shafts, spindles, etc., and scrape ways. Construct simple tools or alter available tools and equipment to facilitate work. Prepare machine bases, move and position machines and align/level as required. Prove out successful operation of the equipment. Perform ordinary plumping, pipe fitting, carpentry, masonry work and maintain/repair buildings, grounds and facility. Work involves a wide variety of machines, hand and bench operations, requiring skill and a through knowledge of the machinist trade to diagnose and remedy trouble on regular and emergency repairs, where familiarity with the construction of a variety of machine tools and equipment, understanding of proper gearing, fits and adjustments, making necessary calculations to obtain accurate relationships, and the use of proper materials, are necessary to ensure satisfactory operations. Provide instructions to facilitate projects as required. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly manner. Follow all safety policies and safe working practices. Detect faulty operations, equipment or defective matter and report all unusual cases to the supervisor. Record and maintain appropriate records of work, installation and repairs.

This is a DIRECT HIRE role which would follow union pay structure starting at $23.95 then $24.22 after 6-months. Pre-employment screening will be conducted.

Job Requirements

 
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • At least two years of recent experience with Electrical Maintenance and Preventative Maintenance involving installation and maintenance of all types of transmission lines, distribution equipment and controls, where the understanding of operating equipment and principles is essential to provide proper precautions and factors of safety against overload. 
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Advanced Electrician certifications/training/diplomas are highly regarded
  • Any experience in the metal working machine building industry is desirable
