Acara Solutions is looking for a Biomedical Engineer for our Client located in Reno, NV

  • As a Biomedical Engineer supporting the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), National Biomedical Contractor Support Services IDIQ project, you will be trusted to provide exceptional health care that improves Veteran health and well-being.
  • This mission guides the Office of Healthcare Technology Management's (HTM) support for patient care to provide the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
  • The ideal Biomedical Engineer will perform duties related to technology assessment, technology implementation, and healthcare consulting that support the VA's Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM).  
  • The Cerner Corporation's electronic health record (EHR) will replace the VA's existing EHR.  
  • The Biomedical Engineer will assist in the medical device integration and interfacing with selected clinical systems for a more seamless diagnosis and care documentation process.
  • Biomedical equipment and device procurement package creation, development, staffing, and support for equipment and device replacement and modernization and system upgrades.
  • Biomedical equipment, devices, system procurement package creation, development, and support for medical system configuration changes and testing for interfaces with the Cerner electronic health record.
  • On-site project management for biomedical equipment, device, and system replacement, modernization, and configuration changes leading to medical device and system integration with the Cerner electronic health record.
  • On-site project management for all related task performance and tracking performed by BMET/BESS staff to achieve medical device and systems integration with the Cerner electronic health record.
  • Perform PM and CM maintenance actions on general Biomedical equipment (Infusion pumps, Feeding Pumps, Aspirators, Defibs & AED's).
  • Perform incoming inspections and assembly work on new devices coming because of Cerner projects.
  • Perform incoming inspections on medical equipment which may not be part of the Cerner project to free up experienced staff to perform EHRM tasks.

Pay and Benefits:

  • The Salary for this position is $60.00 per hour (Max Pay rate).
 
Job Requirements

 
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in hospital or healthcare maintaining medical equipment or managing a hospital medical equipment program

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of concepts related to computer based medical systems, networking protocols, and information security as it applies to medical technology within VHA
  • Demonstrated competency in the ability to conduct a medical equipment management program that is compliant with applicable healthcare standards and regulatory agencies
  • Ability to develop a curriculum for a continuing education program that address the safe and effective use of medical technology
  • Ability to manage a recall and safety alert program for medical devices, including medical device hazard investigations, to assure compliance with patient safety goals, SMDA, and TJC requirements
  • Ability to conduct capital asset and infrastructure planning for medical equipment spanning initial concept, installation, and effective implementation of complex medical equipment
  • Ability to function as the subject matter expert in the field of biomedical engineering, directly supporting specialized clinical technology, including service, system administration, training, quality assurance, and life-cycle management
  • Ability to effectively advise clinical and administrative staff on medical technology, including existing and emerging technology, which addresses viability, long-term suitability, compatibility, or safety; to apply project management principles to deployment of medical equipment and health information technologies.
  • Demonstrated skill in communicating and working collaboratively with key stakeholders, including technical and professional staff at various levels of the organization.
  • Understanding of regulatory agencies' requirements, industry regulatory requirements and International Standard Organization standards
